New and updated industry Counter Piracy Guidelines

Global Counter Piracy Guidance for Companies, Masters and Seafarers is a new publication containing guidance on piracy and armed robbery worldwide. This document is aiming to be the overarching, more general guidelines to handle the global threat of piracy.

BMP5, Best Management Practices to Deter Piracy and Enhance Maritime Safety in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea contains guidance on region-specific threats. This is the update from BMP4 and has also incorporated some of the other threats in the region, in addition to piracy.

The third edition of the Guidelines for Owners, Operators and Masters for protection against piracy and armed robbery in the Gulf of Guinea region is provided.

A new website has also been launched that contains counter piracy and other maritime security related guidance to ship owners and operators at www.maritimeglobalsecurity.org

We would also like to remind the readers to send us updated contact details for your security organization (those handling security matters, i.e. CSOs) to make sure our reports and communication reach the relevant personnel in the Norwegian controlled fleet.
